Schladming-Planai: skiing in the green heart of Austria

Winter sports adventures from enjoyable to action-packed

Variety is paramount at Schladming-Planai ski resort. Modern lifts and cable cars take you up to 1,906 metres above sea level. Once at the top, the entire winter world of the 4-Mountain Ski Area opens up to you: snow parks, wide slopes, children's ski worlds, as well as areas for night skiing or night tobogganing ... What’s not to love?

By the way: In 2013, Schladming was the venue of the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. Sporty skiers still appreciate the fast ski run sections, race courses and timed runs at the ski area.

INTERSPORT Rent tip

Our RENTertainers recommend

Night skiing on Hochwurzen: At Schladming-Planai ski resort, it’s (almost) as if there was no closing time for “marathon skiers”. On the three-kilometre-long night ski slope no. 33, night owls can enjoy the unique ambience of a floodlit and perfectly groomed run.

When, eventually, you do have to make that one last stop, you can visit several cosy huts along the slope. At the top station, you can warm up at Hochwurzen Hütte or Hochwurzenalm. Next to the lift station in the valley, Tauernalm offers a relaxed atmosphere for an evening snack or drinks with friends.

But always remember: Don't drink and ski!
